The Battle of Beliefs

Author Spotlight

Muhammed Y. Darboe is not just an observer of Gambian society – he is its cartographer. His writings have mapped the contours of our national consciousness, tracing the fault lines between tradition and modernity, unity and betrayal, power and control. "The Battle of Beliefs" represents the culmination of this journey – a novel that distills years of political observation into a story that is at once profoundly Gambian and universally human.

Born and raised in The Gambia, Darboe's work is steeped in the rhythms and contradictions of West African life. When he's not writing, he can be found playing football with colleagues.

Author's Statement:
"I didn't write this book to provide answers. I wrote it to start conversations – about who we are, what we've survived, and what we're becoming. Sonko-du may be fictional, but its struggles live in all of us."
